Northern Hills Synagogue and Congregation Ohav Shalom have combined to form a new joint religious school, the Kehilla School for Creative Jewish Education. The new website can be found at www.kehila-cincy.com. "Kehila" means community in Hebrew. Synagogue youth groups will also be combined.
The Kehila School will serve about 45 children, pre-K through Grade 7. Classes are Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoons. The school will alternate locations: in the first semester, beginning Sept. 9, students will learn at Ohav Shalom (8100 Cornell Road) on Wednesdays and at Northern Hills Synagogue (5714 Fields Ertel Road) on Sundays. For the second semester, in late January, the locations will switch.
The school is also open to families that are unaffiliated with a synagogue. Students learn about the Torah, holidays, Israel, life-cycle events, history, prayers and Hebrew.
Tuition is $375 a year for kindergarten through third grade, $700 a year for older students. Pre-K tuition has not been set yet.
To register, contact Tracy Weisberger at (513) 931-6040 or tracyw1@fuse.net, or visit www.kehila-cincy.com.

Congregation Ohav Shalom's Religious School is...
A place where young people learn about their Judaism in an exciting and engaging way.
A place where students are respected and valued for their unique gifts and encouraged to do their best.
A place where a warm family feeling flows from each classroom, and a sense of community is evident in every student, teacher and staff member.
A place where the study of Torah and Mitzvot shows us the uniquely Jewish plan for living a life of goodness.
A place where our Rabbi begins the day with T'fillah (prayer), to nurture in our children a spiritual dimension, a quest for God, and an appreciation of the beauty and sanctity in our everyday lives.
A place with a sense of purpose and mission: to prepare our children to participate actively in the Synagogue, to establish Jewish homes of their own, and to become people of character who value and improve the world they inherit.
At Congregation Ohav Shalom Religious School, children from pre-kindergarten through second grade attend Sunday mornings, 9:30 am – 12:30 pm, and children from third through sixth grades attend Sunday mornings and Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, 4:30 – 6:00 pm. Our seventh graders attend B’nai Mitzvah class with Rabbi Meirovich on Sunday mornings.
In addition to interactive, experiential classes with professional and dedicated teachers, our students participate in services, giving them a chance to use the prayers they learn in class. They also enjoy several enrichment programs, including art, music, dance, and Israeli culture.
If you are interested in learning more about the religious school, you are welcome to stop by for a visit. We encourage you to sit in on a class, tour the school, or meet with the director or the teachers. Please contact us to schedule your visit or for any further information.
