Jewish Sacred Rituals and Practices Honoring the Dead

On April 10, 2022, Congregation Ohav Shalom will be consecrating a new cemetery. Leading up to this significant, holy moment in our congregation’s life, please join us for 3 evening sessions to share learning about Jewish practices around death, dying and mourning.

 MARCH 7, 2022: The Jewish Way: Customs of Death, Burial and Mourning

We will explore how Jewish tradition honors life in its practices around death, and in the ways that we mourn those who have died. Registration HERE.

MARCH 21, 2022: Body and Soul, Life and Death: A Jewish Exploration

Rabbi Dan Ornstein

Jewish religious rituals and ethics around death and dying are based upon basic Jewish beliefs and principles regarding our bodies, our souls, and how we understand death and the afterlife. Registration HERE.

APRIL 4, 2022: NOTE DATE CHANGE Consecrating a New Cemetery:  Making Ground Sacred

Learn why and how we consecrate the ground to become a holy cemetery in honor of the dead. Registration HERE.
