As we prepare for the upcoming High Holy Days — a period of renewal, reflection, and introspection — we ask that you consider Ohav Shalom’s importance to your life, and what you can do to ensure that it remains strong and vibrant.
The High Holy Days Appeal is an annual opportunity to sustain and support Ohav by making a meaningful donation to its operating budget so that we can continue valuable programs and develop new ones.
Giving to Ohav Shalom is not only an investment in our spiritual home; it is an act of tzedakah and a mitzvah. Your High Holy Days contribution says “yes” to Ohav Shalom’s role in crucial issues like human rights, egalitarian worship, welcoming the stranger, greening our shul and more.
Because we strive to keep our dues at manageable levels, revenues from dues do not fully cover the financial needs of the synagogue. Without the High Holiday Appeal, Ohav Shalom would need to charge considerably more per household to close the gap between dues and operating expenses.
Your High Holy Days packet will be mailed to you over the summer, and your pledge cards will also be waiting for you when you come to shul over Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kipppur. Guests of our members in good standing may now attend High Holy Day services without purchasing tickets. We hope members who bring guests will make a donation to the shul in gratitude for this convenience.
